Third Annual Cardboard Challenge - 10/9/2014
Author Visit & Signing at AHML!
Many TMS students came to see, hear from, and ask questions of these YA authors:
-Creatures devour all of humankind in Demitria Lunetta's debut book!
-Joelle Charbonneau's THE TESTING was created because of the question, "What IF tests to get into college WERE worse?"
-Kat Falls loves to write about Manimals!
-Elizabeth Fama's new book, PLUS ONE, is not really about romance, despite the cover...
-Demitria Lunetta read a LOT. Then she wrote an entire book. It wasn't great, but she realized she COULD be an author!
-A book is considered YA (young adult) based on the age of the protagonist and/or the issues the characters go through.
-Some authors have choice over their cover art, some do not. Some have "author consult."
-As for creating character names, some authors have rules, or use names they know, and some use Facebook or movie credits!
We now have four more hard-cover signed books in our classroom!
The Testing, by Joelle Charbonneau
Inhuman, by Kat Falls
Plus One, by Elizabeth Fama
In the After, by Demitria Lunetta
Sydney's Solo 2/2014

Caine's Cardboard Challenge - October 4, 2013
If you're wondering just WHY we held Caine's Cardboard Challenge during ELA class, I wrote a blog post here to explain.
Enjoy the smiles in the video!
Students - if you'd like these pictures or videos, bring in a thumb drive and you can get them off of the iMac on the right of our computer table.
Thanks for these great panoramic photos, Michael P.!
