I was really anxious to give my mom her gift because I got her more of something from the heart than something bought.
My mom always said how her and her grandma were very very close.
Her grandma (but she calls her grandma her Abuela) was more of her mom than her actual mom. Although her mom lived with my mom’s four sisters and my mom and her abuela, my mom lived in the guest room in the basement with her Abuela.
I can still remember, my mom's Abuela was getting too old and too weak to do basic things by herself, so I had to feed her.But I can remember how sweet and kind she was to this day.
She lived to be 102 years old! How amazing and crazy is that!?
My mom was very very sad when her Abuela died but treasured every moment she spent with her sweet Abuela.
I found an antique frame my Grandma had found in her attic that belonged to my mom's Abuela, and my dad helped me print out a picture at Sam’s Club of my mom holding me as a baby with her Abuela smiling sitting next to us.
I put that picture in the beautiful frame that belonged to my mom’s Abuela and it looked perfect, and I just knew my mom would love it!
And of course on Christmas day when my mom opened her gift she was overcome with joy and happiness.
I felt proud and glad that I got my mom a gift from the heart.
