Cold. Cold. Cold. And yet, we survived! We began our science fiction unit last week, with gems such as "Evil Robot Monkey" by Mary Robinette Kowal and "Dark They Were and Golden-Eyed" by Ray Bradbury. Students have been coming up with their own questions, as I facilitate discussion of those questions. The goal is to be able to back up our answers with proof from the text. "What in the text makes you say (or think) that?" is my favorite question. (Try this at home - if your child wants to argue a point, as him or her to find evidence in an article or book to help support his or her opinion!) Our last day of this week we were fortunate enough to have Miss Julie Jergens from AHML in to give book talks. Don't forget to catch up on our own book talks on this page of our website. Bonus to our week: Julia was able to listen to our booktalks today via FaceTime!!! That's what I call an "eduwin!" :)
