ISATs... DONE!
In addition to testing and a crazy schedule last week, we finished reading the first two chapters of Outliers, by Malcolm Gladwell. Be sure to ask your child what helps people become successful. Then ask if they believe Gladwell or have their own opinions...
This week, we took a "break," and read CRASH by Jerry Spinelli (aloud). We worked with partners and talked about "Aha moments," things that occur again and again, character traits, and theme. The comic relief was a nice reprieve after reading intense nonfiction for two weeks. We finished the book in four days! (We don't have a lot of photos from these days - students were too engaged reading/listening!)
And a bit more celebration - over the weekend, some of our students were highlighted in this article from CNN... On Monday, we're going to begin finalizing our plans for Quarter Four's Genius Hour. This document is what I'll be sharing with students. If you'd like, feel free to talk to them about it this weekend in preparation for Spring Break.
Enjoy your weekend! Our next update is the week after spring break, so I hope you thoroughly enjoy a safe break!
