Our focus is with showing (strong verbs, sensory details, dialogue and/or slow motion) and staying on topic. Of course grammar comes into play as well. Like other writers, writing is never done, it's just due...
We've also begun a read aloud - we're reading Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds. Many students are already picking up this book, so we figured teacher guidance would be helpful. It's a quick read, and will be finished before we begin Ghost, an all-school read, also by Jason Reynolds. He'll be visiting in November!
