We've been making our way through A Raisin in the Sun these two weeks. We've taken a short break from the iPads, and done some of the curriculum on paper and on laptops to alleviate some of our frustration with glitches. If you ask your child if he/she likes the STORY, I believe he or she will say "yes." They for sure like it when we show the clips from the movie to go along with what we're reading in class. I do believe they are invested in what will happen with the characters, as well. There are so many subtleties and nuances that we don't get to, but I believe the author is still getting her point across to us.
We've been able to try Genius Hour again this past week - some students are beginning to get ideas for projects, while others are still reading. Both of these are great! It's very individualized, so the management of the projects is now the hard part for me. When I've got classes of self-directed learners, however, I'll know we've come a long way!
Thank you to Anna, Olivia, Megan, Andrew, Yanicka, and Billy for taking the photos these two weeks.
