What?? Four weeks before winter break, and they're gone already?? It wasn't as tough as it could have been in ELA class, and I think that's because we've been pretty immersed in our book clubs. Some students have put "independent reading" on hold as they catch up to the pages their group decided for their book club book, and some are still reading more than one book, or have finished their book club books early. If you and your children have any time at home this winter break, please encourage everyone to read. It can be very relaxing!
We wrote about the dynamic characters in our books, providing evidence and our explanation this week, and we've been looking at various types of characters so we can build on it when we come back in January and really dive into the theme of our book club books. Before we know it, we'll be sitting down for 1:1 conferences to chat about second quarter grades soon (we start conferring on January 10th)!
Some of the photos you'll see this week are a result of a grant I applied for (and received)! We received twelve Hokki stools, so we'll be sharing some with other classrooms. The unboxing was quite an ordeal for block 5/6 - a once-in-a-lifetime bit of fun, for sure. Soon we'll get our tables re-painted with Idea Paint, as well - all thanks to the ABC25 Foundation!
Have a wonderful break - enjoy family time to the fullest!
