We have been continuing with our neuroscience unit, and the past two weeks we were involved in a "quest." See the funny ideas your children have in this video, and ask them what they are talking about. That should lead into a great discussion about what we went through during this portion of the pilot. I loved the collaboration students had to do in order to get to their solution on the last day.
Please check out students' current Genius Hour goals on this wiki. We are starting to look for mentors to help us in our endeavors. We have a mentor for our nine students who are writing novels. Ms. Burner will be coming in on Mondays during lunch to inspire, but also to critique. Our writers are excited that she'll be challenging them to make their writing better. If you think you'd like to mentor a student, check out the wiki with their projects listed, then please fill out the form at the bottom of this page to let me know your interest.
Looking for ideas for your children on winter break? Check this site - full of activities that will keep them active. Also, I love the Do-It-Yourself website - great for keeping minds and hands productive!
I hope you and your families have a beautiful winter break. Please stay healthy and share this precious time with those you love. I love teaching your children - making these videos reminds me of the learning that takes place, but also of the joy I feel when seeing your children happy and engaged in their learning.
