We're back on a regular schedule for Genius Hour, and ideas are starting to spring up. A couple of students are writing a novel (not together - on their own), one is looking for ways to help the community, one is giving motivational speeches, and one is creating art - every day. Perhaps by January these students will be updating their blogs to let us know their plans. It is then that I will be able to share more with you. Please ask your child what he or she is considering.
We finished the Phineas Gage book the week before our week-long break, and now we're delving into an article about the adolescent brain. It's quite complex, and we're taking our time with it. That being said, Grammar is back in town again! The shorter lessons for the neuroscience pilot have allowed time for grammar three days a week. We have one more week of it, and then the "quest" for the neuroscience pilot will take up our time once again (until January).
We ended this week with a day in the CLC for MAP testing... We'll have another round of it in the spring, so we can compare them to last year's spring scores. Winter scores are more for check-ins - some years we have them, and some years we don't! This part is not up to the teachers. It was nice to see some of the items the video we watched had included.
It was so great to see some of you during conferences - Thank you for the book donations from the book fair, and I hope you had a wonderful week with family!
