Last week, we polished our personal narratives and submitted them for feedback. Feedback came in the form of screencasts - the links to the videos are provided in three spots on PowerSchool (Narrative Writing - Focus, Showing, and Grammar) and also on your child's document itself in a comment. I've asked students (in the comment itself) to not "resolve" the comment, but if they do, the link is still on PowerSchool. Once students revise their writing and resubmit, I'll provide more feedback. This new link will be uploaded on the document (again), and also on the skill on which that the student worked (either focus, showing, or grammar). They can keep revising until we meet for our 1:1 conference to chat about their grade. We are true writers - revising again and again is the goal!
This week, we finished Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds, and we'll be reading Ghost by Reynolds next week - the author is visiting in November! We also are wrapping up a bit of grammar instruction. We'll be assessing how we're doing next week, even though the true reflection is in their writing pieces. Mrs. Rehberger and I also going to begin meeting with students 1:1 to discuss what the final grade for the first quarter should be, while looking at our evidence on PowerSchool.
