At the start of second quarter, we finished reading the all-school read Ghost, sprinkled in some "scary" writing, and ended the week with the assembly for Jason Reynolds! For the past two weeks, we've delved into science fiction. It's amazing how some students still don't know what a wealth of stories they can find if they explore science fiction. This two-week exposure (again) was just the ticket for some. As for grammar, we're on to compound sentences. This means when students submit their next "polished piece," they'll be expected to put in that comma with the coordinating conjunction. ;)
Newest news: We've got STUDENT PHOTOGRAPHERS! As of November 5th, students will be taking most of the photos for our slide show. It might take a bit of adjustment, and some students may forget, but enjoy what we have - student-selected photos. They'll be learning how to curate the best photos of the day. Thank you to Ben, Emily, Anushree and Ulysses for this round!
Coming after Thanksgiving: Classroom Spelling Bee (Tues, 11/27), Blogging, and Book Clubs!
