The week prior to Spring Break, we practiced more fish bowl discussions (classes chose from 10 choices), enjoyed Career Day, and then watched "Back to the Future" to wrap up our science fiction unit in a fun way. (It actually SNOWED one of these days!) Then Spring Break arrived...
After break, we started writing our proposals for Q4's genius hour. April 1st was the start of Poetry Month - ask your child about the Poet Tree! We read two poems about war, and dove into The Gettysburg Address, to really read closely. The hope is that we notice more and more each day as we read and wrote about these three influential paragraphs. I love it when students are engaged in comparing their rewrites (paraphrases) with Lincoln's words... They really catch the nuances when this happens...
See you at the Crosstown Classic? (I'll see students, but they won't know it's me.... Shhhh!) :D
EVENT: The Arlington Heights Memorial Library has FOUR AUTHORS coming on April 12th! Please check out this site and sign up your child! (Oh, how I wish I could go!!) I also put the information on this page of the Weebly.
