Christina, Clare, & Michelle tried decorating cakepops for classmates' interests. They struggled, but we all benefited!

Please visit Claire's blog so you can check out (and comment on) the novel she's writing this year.
--> And she's got a new novel here - realistic fiction titled "Two Percent" (at least that's the title today!) Alexis has two novels she's writing, titled "Year of the Robot..." and "Creatures of the Night." Here is Hanna's, called "Barely There..." May Joy has two - her realistic fiction & her science fiction... I believe Izzy has two stories, as well, but here is one - "Escape from the Arena." Tyler & Nathan are co-writing this one... Sam has started this one recently - The Anti-Crusaders! And Sydney, who got all the other ladies to publish their stories online for us to comment on... (Here is Sydney's NEWEST book - as of 4/12/14!) Each of these students is meeting with a mentor (a recently-retired ELA teacher) on Mondays during lunch! Izzy, a resident artist in block 5/6, quickly jumped at the idea of a 30-Day challenge... except hers will be for 50 days! After we watched and discussed this speech by Matt Cutts, Izzy asked her friends to give her suggestions for what she could draw. This is her list: As you can see, she has checked off 12 items - and it's been 13 days since we've seen the video. She has taken liberties with the categories, and has stretched her thinking. Her favorite (so far) is the "tank." Here is some of her work. Kid President inspired Joe. Joe inspired Luke. Here is Luke's speech - trying to inspire others! |
