Please ask your child what it takes to be successful - according to Malcolm Gladwell. Then discuss what you and your child believe regarding success. We wrapped up two weeks worth of Outliers - chapters one and two - last week. Our fishbowl discussions rocked! We are getting much better at listening to each other, using text support, and learning from each other's ideas and opinions.
We shifted gears a bit this week and introduced some poetry. We read two poems about war, and two about family relationships. We asked questions, had tiny whole-class debates, wrote an analysis of two of the poems, and also had another fishbowl discussion. Our four poems and plans can be found here. In April (poetry month), we'll be enjoying more poetry, hopefully shared by your children.
